Dear Savior
Thou
who art Creator of worlds without number
Yet
who knows when the lowly sparrow does fall
And
when every mortal must take their slumber
Heeding
always thy merciful and eternal call.
Thou
who directed God’s armies in righteous conflict
Now
leads each mortal in the personal wars for the soul
Having
suffered all the wounds the adversary does inflict
Thus
granting mortal escape at such an infinite toll.
Thou
whose mercy is infinite and beyond measure
Reaches
down to touch and heal the broken heart
Of
those who have sinned and sought worldly pleasure
Granting
peace to the contrite spirit seeking a clean start.
Thou
whose perfect love fills the universe and far beyond
Gladly
carried the heavy burden of mortal’s grief and sins
That they might truly be able to thy call
respond,
“I
will follow, that with thee I may live once again.”
Thou
who bore the sins, afflictions, frailties and sorrows
Of
all mankind in a way that only God Himself could do,
Leaves
us with a grateful debt to be paid by all our tomorrows,
And
by so paying, our blessings received grant us debt anew.
Oh,
Beloved Savior it is with words far inadequate and few
That
this expression of love and devotion is penned for thee
Knowing
that the gift of the heart and mind of man are given by few,
But
when given sincerely the giver is forever and eternally free.
